With this bundle you get the popular Fellow Ode coffee grinder from the first generation together with the matching grinding discs from the second generation. Compared to buying the Fellow Ode Gen 2, you get the same grinding quality at an attractive price. With just a few simple steps, the new grinding discs bring the quality of the Fellow Ode ground material to the level of the Fellow Ode Gen 2. Specifically, this means: finer grinding in the Aeropress and stovetop jug range (250 micrometer particle size) and the same balanced flavor profile with a slight emphasis on body and sweetness.

Unfortunately, other features of the Gen 2, such as the new anti-static system, cannot be retrofitted. However, here is a valuable tip: A few drops of water in the coffee beans are enough to drastically reduce static charging. For example, you can use the handle of a spoon or a small spray bottle to moisten the beans before grinding.

The Fellow Ode Gen 1 can do that

Right after its market launch, the Fellow Ode caused quite a stir. A single-dosing grinder with grinding discs in a professional 64 mm format at an attractive price for home use - something that brings coffee fans around the world into ecstasy. The structure of the mill and the workflow could not be simpler. As a single dosing grinder, the Fellow Ode is designed for grinding individually weighed amounts of beans. The workflow can be briefly described as follows: Fill in the weighed beans, place the magnetically fixed cup, press the button and wait, then knock out with the lever, done! The degree of grinding can be easily adjusted using the large wheel on the front. Thanks to the PID-controlled motor, the Ode not only grinds particularly evenly, it also recognizes when all the beans have been ground and switches off automatically. Thanks to the vertical and large burrs in the standard 64 mm format, the Fellow Ode grinds extremely quickly and remains pleasantly quiet, especially when compared to other coffee grinders for home use with smaller burrs or conical burrs. Many professionals use the Fellow Ode as a reliable filter coffee grinder and have exchanged the supplied grinding discs for much more expensive ones. While the first generation of Fellow Ode burrs left a lot to be desired, Fellow has followed up with the Gen 2 Brew Burrs and now delivers burrs that are significantly better.

The new Gen 2 Brew Burrs

The biggest change Fellow introduced to the Ode Gen 2 compared to the Gen 1 is the new burrs. While the first generation, with a fineness of 500 micrometers, could not grind fine enough for some AeroPress and stovetop jug recipes, the new grinding disc geometry allows a fineness of 250 micrometers. The new two-stage design ensures particularly even particle distribution. The result is a particularly pleasing grind, which easily forgives inaccuracies in preparation and slightly incorrect grind settings. With the Gen 2 Brew Burrs, the coffee tastes particularly balanced with a slightly fuller body and an emphasis on sweetness.
